After the fire at Lenzing
Investigators have not yet been to the roof of the tower
The fire investigators from the Upper Austrian State Office of Criminal Investigation will only have the chance to take a close look at the scene at lofty heights in the coming days following the spectacular fire in Lenzing AG's Laugeturm.
"The police investigators were on site and have already looked around the tower for the cause of the fire. The only place they haven't been yet is at the very top of the tower, where the structural engineer has yet to give the go-ahead. We are now waiting for this in the coming days," explains Group spokesman Dominic Köfner.
No danger to the environment
As reported, the roof of the Laugeturm - the landmark of Lenzing AG - suddenly caught fire at around 8.35 a.m. on Friday morning, and the plumes of black smoke could be seen for miles around. However, Köfner assured the Krone on Friday that there was no danger to the local residents or the environment.
Clarification of the cause of the fire has therefore been postponed, so to speak, and it is not assumed that the fire was caused by a third party. According to Lenzing AG, production at the plant was not affected.
