Wave of protest from May 4
Last Generation does not run against the clock
On Sunday, climate activists from the Last Generation once again disrupted the Vienna Marathon on the Reichsbrücke. They spilled paint and tried to attract attention with their yellow banners.
The Last Generation spilled orange paint on the Reichsbrücke during the marathon in Vienna on Sunday morning. With the demand "Right to Survive", they once again wanted to draw attention to the lack of climate protection.
The handcuffs then clicked for 23-year-old Laila for "disturbing public order". "I think I'm in the wrong film," she describes in a video that the organization shared on X. The activist is currently still in the police detention center. It is unclear when she will be released.
"Time is running out. Enough talk!", the organization also wrote in a press release. Instead of running after her, however, they simply squatted at the edge of the running course with their high-visibility vests and yellow banners. Fortunately, the marathon was able to continue despite the disruption.
Another wave of protests from May
What will happen to the traffic from May 4, however, is another question. The organization has already announced another wave of protests from this date.
