The 74-year-old Upper Austrian wanted to persuade a speeding motorcyclist to slow down. In the process, he was hit and injured by the reckless two-wheeler. The biker victim has now offered 3000 euros, but so far no information has come in.

The telephone at the St. Florian police station near Linz remained suspiciously quiet on Sunday: although speeding victim Josef Untermair (74) offered a hefty reward of 3000 euros for information about the motorcyclist who ran him over on April 4th, no one contacted the police on Sunday. Helmut Ramsauer, the officer in charge of the Sankt Florian police station, was also slightly disappointed: "We wondered in advance whether anyone would come forward and said: either no one or a whole bunch of people. The personal description, black clothing, black helmet and black vehicle are not very clear."

Popular route
As we reported, Senior Untermair was hit by a motorcyclist on April 4 when he tried to encourage him to slow down by waving vigorously. This is because there is a long country road where Untermair lives, which is very popular with speeding motorcyclists.

Painful contact
There was a brief but extremely painful contact for Untermair when the biker speeding past grazed the pedestrian. Since then, the 74-year-old, who was badly scarred by the impact, has wanted nothing more than to find out who caused his pain.

Difficult search
"That's only possible if the biker perhaps brags to others about the incident and is then blamed," says post commander Ramsauer, who doubts, however, whether the ominous biker could then be proven to have caused bodily harm through negligence. But perhaps his conscience is still bothering him ...
