2:0 at Vienna
SPG Lustenau/Dornbirn caused a sensation
The Bundesliga newcomers celebrated their third win of the season with a 2-0 win at Vienna and climbed to seventh place. Coach Klaus Stocker was delighted with a strong team performance - and goals at the right time.
"When you win at one of the top three teams in the Bundesliga, there's not much to complain about," said SPG Dornbirn/Lustenau coach Klaus Stocker after his team's somewhat surprising 2-0 away win at Vienna on the Hohe Warte.
The Messestadt side's third win of the season was not undeserved. In the first half, the visitors still lacked a bit of order, the capital city team controlled the game and also created some good chances. "But we had the necessary luck this time," said Stocker, "and then scored the goals ourselves at the right moments. A lot of things worked out for us."
Just a few minutes after the start of the second half, Carina Brunold got away from the defense and slid in to take the lead. Vienna then pressed again, but the newly promoted team also survived this critical phase. The second goal shortly before the end from a penalty by Catherine Nolan - again it was Brunold who was on the run and could only be stopped by goalkeeper Piplits - allowed SPG to glide to an away win without any trepidation.
No hectic rush
"We didn't rush, that was a step forward," said a delighted Stocker, whose team climbed to seventh place, "and now we want to finish the season in a sensible and confident manner."
