Offer for Wimmer
Please wake up quickly, purple sleepyheads!
Sleepyheads! Austria Klagenfurt have conceded 1-0 in their last seven games in the Bundesliga this spring. In the championship round, they conceded three times after just five minutes. In terms of personnel? Nico Wimmer has an offer on the table, a defender broke his hand.
Sleepyheads! Austria Klagenfurt have always conceded 1-0 in the last seven rounds in the spring, and coach Peter Pacult was clearly upset after the 4-2 defeat in Salzburg. It was the third of five games in the championship round in which the first goal came after just five minutes. Before that, also in the 0:5 against Sturm and the 1:1 at Rapid Vienna.
"We are an amateur club"
"That can't be, it was also mentioned after the game," said Pacult. "But now we have to look ahead and stay positive. We have another tough match on Wednesday when Salzburg come to us. There have also been some positives recently, and we have to build on that. But one thing has to be said: Salzburg's boys are hitting the sauna, the whirlpool, regenerating like world champions. And we take a shower and that's it - as far as certain events are concerned, we're just an amateur club."
We've conceded such stupid goals. That just annoys me. Salzburg weren't that good, we were just bad.
Nico Wimmer
Home calls Nico Wimmer
Defensive ace Nico Wimmer was very thoughtful. "We conceded such stupid goals. That just annoys me. Salzburg weren't that good, we were just bad. We made it too easy for them. And once again we weren't ready from the start, we made life difficult for ourselves," emphasized Wimmer, who has a concrete offer from Blau-Weiß Linz on the table.
"No pressure, but still so anxious"
What Nico is still upset about is the result so far in the championship round. They played so consistently well in the basic round, scored points and won. Now they have two points from five games at the top. Last season, it was enough for two wins and two draws, 2021/22 for one win and three draws. "We have no pressure, but we're still so anxious. When we're behind, we play with more freedom. We have to believe in ourselves a lot more."
Ace defender has broken his hand
Kosmas Gkezos fell on his hand in Salzburg, but finished the game. After Monday's training session, he went to hospital for a check-up and was diagnosed with a broken hand. Tomorrow is unlikely. Playmaker Max Besuschkow, who had to leave the pitch in Mozartstadt after 64 minutes with muscle problems, trained normally again.
