Austrias Wimmer:
“Then things will continue to flow for us”
Looking at the table is allowed, but not letting up. Coach Michael Wimmer and his Austria want to keep their foot on the gas pedal in Tirol today.
Two convincing performances against Wolfsberg (1:0) and WSG Tirol (3:0) were enough for them to pull away in the qualifying round. One look at the table is enough to see that Austria almost have the right to play in the European Cup play-off semi-finals at home.
Things aregoing well in training
"If we said we weren't looking at the table, nobody would believe us anyway," says Austria coach Michi Wimmer with a smile. "And the boys are allowed to look at the table. There's only one thing they're not allowed to do: let up!" Luca Pazourek, Johannes Handl and Lucas Galvao are missing today due to injury. Instead, Marvin Martins returns and Fisnik Asllani is back in the squad for the first time since January. In view of the defensive absences, 19-year-old Young Violets central defender Aleksa Ilic will also get a taste of professional life. The rotation is not difficult for Wimmer. The commitment and atmosphere in daily training make his trainer's heart beat faster.
"Stay on the gas pedal"
"Security, relaxation and self-confidence are good at the moment. That's why we now have to confirm our recent performances in Tirol." For Austria, it's all about maintaining the "flow" for as long as possible. "Keep the pedal to the metal! If we manage to do that, things will continue to flow for us," Wimmer is certain. Andi Gruber, who is also in contention for the title of top scorer, says: "We're aggressive, aggressive and have a lot of possession. It's no fun for any opponent to play against us."
