NEOS leader goes on the offensive
Meinl-Reisinger: “€25,000 for all 18-year-olds”
Neos leader Beate Meinl-Reisinger makes an interesting proposal in the krone.tv interview: In future, there should be €25,000 as a basic inheritance for all 18-year-olds.
This amount would be tied to the capital market and would have to be spent by the recipients on housing and education. Meinl-Reisinger: "I think the young have been let down. In many respects. When it comes to education, we are only mediocre, which is what we settle for, where a quarter of children go to the AMS after school. But also when it comes to pensions, where young people no longer believe they can build something for themselves and also believe they won't get a pension later on." This is why, according to the NEOS leader, start-up capital will be necessary in future to spread confidence. However, she does not want to hand young people 25,000 euros, but rather: "It is start-up capital that is there for education, for starting a business or when it comes to wanting to buy a condominium."
To this end, she has set up a reform group with experts to discuss exactly what this could look like. To be more specific: "I can already reveal that the capital market will play a decisive role. Also when it comes to saving for retirement later on."
No coalition with exhausted parties
The NEOS are currently making gains in the polls. Their party is also prepared to co-govern in the future: "We don't want to see the FPÖ in government, we believe they have proven many times that they can't do it and don't offer any solutions. But a grand coalition with two exhausted, exhausted parties that can't really bring anything together is not an option. That's why I presented a plan in my book Wendepunkt (Turning Point) with a few very important adjustments to relieve the burden on people, also in view of inflation. Taxes must be lowered, levies must be reduced, educational opportunities for all. And also a clean policy, which I don't think we would get from either the old parties or the FPÖ."
Meinl-Reisinger's stance on issues such as the break-up of large social media groups can be seen in the video above.
