Brucknerhaus: New accents in the 2024/25 season
Following the resignation of Dietmar Kerschbaum as Artistic Director in mid-March, the Linz Brucknerhaus has presented its 2024/25 season program - at the same time as last year. It has the evocative motto "Stufen. Auftaktstimmung" and brings world stars to Linz as well as daring new formats.
"I'm not worried about the future of the Brucknerhaus in terms of content," emphasizes Mayor Klaus Luger. Following the dismissal of Dietmar Kerschbaum as Artistic Director in mid-March, he believes that the Konzerthaus an der Donau is in good hands as Chairman of the LIVA Supervisory Board: "It is not an elitist temple of music, but a house for everyone, where top world stars present themselves just as much as talents or artists from the region."
The 2024/25 season program has now been put together. René Esterbauer, Commercial Director, and his team emphasize that they want to set new accents step by step, keep the tried and tested, but also "establish new traditions."
Diversity with big names
The aim is to thrill audiences with a total of 221 events, with numerous stars of classical music appearing, such as soprano Diana Damrau, opera star Jonas Kaufmann, pianist Khatia Buniatishvili and bass-baritone Florian Boesch; conductor Tabita Berglund and organist Iveta Apkalna are making their first guest appearances in Linz.
Silverster concerts with Strauss
As always, the Grand Subscription and the Sunday matinees, including with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Concerto Köln and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, are special highlights. Chamber music concerts and recitals are advertised as the "supreme discipline".
Piano recitals, stars of tomorrow, jazz and music of the nations underline the diversity of the program. The New Year's Eve concert will feature a journey through all 17 stage works by Johann Strauss (son).
Young Brucknerhaus for families
The program for young audiences is also particularly diverse, ranging from kindergarten concerts and family tours to music theater tailored to different age groups.
Incidentally, only three artists from the Opus 3 agency, from which the company has now parted company, are still on the program.
