Mini Aceman: fun SUV in the very small class
Now that the Mini Countryman has become bigger and bigger, the BMW brand Mini is now adding a small crossover model at the bottom: At 4.07 meters, the Mini Aceman is just a woman's handspan longer than the Mini Cooper, but is said to offer five seats and useful trunk space despite being only 1.75 m wide.
The Mini Mini SUV undercuts the first Mini Countryman, which was launched in 2010, by just under three centimeters, while the current Countryman has now grown to 4.44 meters. The Aceman therefore fits in perfectly with what the brand promises, if only because of its name.
"The Mini Aceman adds a new level of fun to our all-electric product range and offers an entertaining, immersive digital experience," explains Mini boss Stefanie Wurst. Its territory is the city. The load volume of 300 liters is sufficient for bulk shopping and can be expanded to up to 1005 liters thanks to numerous adjustment options.
Choice of two drive systems
The Mini Aceman is always electrically powered. The basic engine is called S and offers 135 kW/184 hp or 290 Nm, which should be enough for a standard sprint time of 7.9 seconds. The top speed is 160 km/h. The 42.5 kWh battery in the floor should be good for a range of 294 to 310 kilometers according to WLTP.
The SE delivers 160 kW/218 hp and 330 Nm. The driving performance is slightly better at 7.1 seconds and 170 km/h. The battery also has a higher capacity with an energy content of 54.2 kWh. WLTP range: 382 to 407 kilometers.
Fast charging with direct current is possible with 75 kW in the Aceman E and up to 95 kW in the Aceman SE. This allows the battery to be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just under 30 minutes. When navigation is activated, the high-voltage battery can be automatically preconditioned.
The Mini Aceman is available in four different trims, including one in John Cooper Works style. According to the manufacturer, the motorsport-inspired equipment variant has its own front and rear design. The rims are between 17 and 19 inches in size.
Interior quotes from the past
In the interior, the manufacturer wants to follow the original vision of Alec Issigonis, the inventor of the classic Mini. Mini sees the handy steering wheel, the central OLED display (240 mm diameter) and the redesigned toggle switch strip as quotes from the past.
Market launch in Austria in October 2024 from 34,956 euros (Aceman E) or from 38,952 euros (Aceman SE).
