Billie Eilish: Identity crisis because of blonde hair

What a difference a new hair color can make. In Billie Eilish's case, it triggered a personal identity crisis. 

In an interview with "Rolling Stones", the Grammy winner revealed the feelings that overwhelmed her after mutating into a hydrogen blonde in 2021: "The day I dyed my hair blonde, my first thought was 'I have no idea who I am'."

The change from her green and black hair and unisex plus-size clothing to a glamorous, more body-conscious look was intended to match her second album "Happier Than Ever".

But in the end, the transformation was too drastic and didn't match the singer's "true self".

However, the 22-year-old revealed that she had long wanted to try out the Marilyn Monroe hairstyle with a matching outfit - she caused a sensation at the Met Gala 2021 in an orange Oscar de la Renta ball gown: "I just couldn't get over my fear of it for a long time because I didn't feel comfortable enough in my skin for it. But then the time came because I felt like I had grown."

And also that her blue hair color at the beginning of her career in 2015 was the result of an "accident": "I didn't like the color at all. But someone poured too much toner into my white-blonde hair and suddenly it was lavender-blue. That's the only reason I became known as a blue-haired girl - which I fucking hated back then!"

In the meantime, however, she has made friends with the once unloved color. So much so that blue is the main motif on the cover of her third album "Hit Me Hard and Soft", which comes out on May 17.
