These “Bridgerton” stars lie around naked on set
The romantic Netflix series "Bridgerton" is known for its sex and love scenes, which are met with great enthusiasm by viewers. Penelope actress Nicola Coughlan (37) has now revealed to Teen Vogue that she felt so comfortable with her colleague Luke Newton (31) during filming that the two actors also lay naked together between sex scenes.
In season three of the historical series, which starts on Netflix on May 16, things will get down to business again - between the new main characters Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan).
Naked lounging after sex shoots
Fans have long speculated that there is also a private spark between the two. Coughlan has now revealed that she and her fellow actor also lounged around naked together on set away from the camera.
"It's proof that we just got to a point where we were so comfortable with each other. We had just finished the big sex scene, the most intense and elaborate.... and we just felt relieved," said Nicola Coughlan, describing the filming of the Netflix show.

Logistical considerations would also have played a role in the nude lounging with their co-star. The actors were wearing a tiny amount of "not even real clothes" at the time. Therefore, if they had stood up instead of lying naked next to each other under a comforter, they would have had to flaunt themselves in front of the crew, according to Coughlan.
It helps to "be good friends" even before filming
Actor Luke Newton also commented in "Teen Vogue" on filming the love scenes for the new "Bridgerton" season. He reports that it helped him to have been good friends with Coughlan before filming began.
"I think it's a lot easier when you have a really solid friendship with someone and you trust someone. We were able to support each other on set when we needed to and also just laugh about it. I'm really glad we got to experience that together. It was like having a really close friend while you're going through something that might be quite daunting," says the 31-year-old.
