Nets are coming! Paracelsusbad reopens in July
Salzburg's Paracelsusbad has been closed since last summer - one year later, after a long series of mishaps, bad luck and breakdowns, it will reopen. .
"We now have confirmation from an external expert that the damaged ceiling in the Paracelsusbad can be secured with a net. If the building authorities give the green light, the pool could be open again from July," says Anna Schiester (Citizens' List), who is still a city councillor. The costs for the net will be borne by the original construction company of the dilapidated ceiling structure. The final renovation of the ceiling will then take place from spring to summer 2025.
Production and testing of the components required for the renovation of the ceiling are currently being driven forward in parallel with the implementation of a grid protection system. Based on the results to date, the technical execution can be approved by the end of June 2024. By then, the operator TSG will have made a decision on a possible resumption of operations.
The next steps
- The company immediately submits an application to the building authorities to enable the installation of a safety net and provisional bathing operations.
- The client for the safety net is the company carrying out the work.
- The application includes the technical and static proof for the net construction.
- The external expert has already confirmed that the fastening ropes have sufficient load-bearing capacity for the temporary solution.
- If approved by the building authorities, the grid protection system can be installed by the second half of June 2024.
- Subject to commissioning by TSG, the pool could then open at the beginning of July.
- The safety net can enable swimming pool operations until the final renovation of the ceiling.
- As things stand at present, the renovation work will require the pool to be closed for around 24 weeks.
- It is recommended to start the renovation in spring 2025 so that the pool can be opened in the fall/winter of 2025-2026.
- The proposed time frame for the renovation is April to August 2025.
