TikTok star came to Upper Austria for a big garbage collection tour

Felix Krainer has three million followers with his "Planet Matters" account on TikTok. The 23-year-old campaigns for environmental protection on social media and came to Upper Austria for his big garbage collection tour. Together with children from Traun primary school, he collected garbage on Thursday.

"So much nonsense is spread on Instagram and TikTok, so I want to use these platforms for something positive and try to motivate people to do something for the environment," says Felix Krainer, who has been regularly posting short videos of his good deeds for two years.

Born in Carinthia, he collects garbage worldwide with 30 other volunteers and inspires many people with this campaign: "Collecting garbage is really fun for me. It's like going for a walk for me."

His biggest project to date
Felix has already traveled a lot for his work, for example to Albania, Spain and Italy, where he has already cleaned several beaches: "I even spent a month in Bali in October." Together with 700 other helpers, the TikTok star made the beaches there a little cleaner: "It was extremely nice because everyone came together, from young children to disabled people - everyone helped," says Felix.

Garbage collection tour through Austria
But the Carinthian is not only active on beaches, bodies of water and green spaces. To mark World Earth Day, he has now embarked on a 14-day garbage collection tour throughout Austria and was out and about in Upper Austria on Thursday.

"Environmental protection is sexy"
Together with pupils from Dionyse elementary school in Traun, Felix disposed of waste in the morning: "Collecting garbage is fun for children because it feels like a treasure hunt to them," he says. In the afternoon, the TikTok star joined volunteers on the banks of the Danube in Linz to collect garbage. Why is he doing all this? "I want to show that environmental protection is cool and sexy and that everyone can do something."
