Lamborghini Urus SE: The bull is electrified
The Urus becomes a plug-in and thus takes a step towards becoming an electric car. In practical terms, the main increase is in performance.
Sports car fans around the world will have to wait a few more years for the first fully electric Lamborghini. The full e-era for the brand from Sant'Agata Bolognese will begin in 2028 at the earliest with the "Lanzador". In order to reduce CO2 emissions by then, Audi's sporty subsidiary wants to at least electrify all combustion engine models by the end of the year. The Revuelto, which was fitted with a plug-in hybrid drive, was the first model to do so last year.
At the motor show in Beijing, the Urus will now also get a plug and, as the Urus SE, will replace the pure combustion models Urus S and Urus Perfomante from now on.
Double blow in the drive
Lamborghini is pairing the revised 620 hp V8 biturbo with an electric drive with 141 192 hp. The overall package delivers 800 hp, with a maximum torque of 950 Newton meters. The purely electric range of around 60 kilometers is provided by a 25.9 kWh battery, which is located in the rear charging floor above the electronically controlled rear axle differential. The electric motor sits in the housing of the eight-speed automatic transmission. Lamborghini claims a CO2 reduction of up to 80 percent compared to the Urus S. The onboard charger is designed for a charging capacity of 7.4 kW.
The Urus SE also has a new electric torque vectoring longitudinal gearbox with an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch, which is intended to significantly improve power distribution, agility and traction.
The luxury SUV, which now weighs around 2300 kilograms, sprints to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 312 km/h, seven km/h faster than the Urus S.
Visually, the Urus SE will receive slight corrections to the hood and a new light signature for the Matrix LED headlights, while the trunk lid has been redesigned at the rear. A new rear spoiler and diffuser are intended to increase the downforce at high speeds by a further 35 percent compared to the Urus S. Among other things, the interior now features a larger 12.3-inch display. Lamborghini has not yet commented on the price.
