Rafael Nadal will probably not be granted this wish. He would love to continue playing for so long that his son could remember him on the court. However, the 37-year-old tennis superstar is aware that this is unlikely to happen. Nadal's wife and his one-year-old son Rafael Junior were present at the smooth 6:1, 6:0 victory over 16-year-old Darwin Blanch (USA) in the first Madrid round.

"I probably won't be able to do it again," said Nadal. The 22-time major winner had only returned in Brisbane in January after almost a year out following a hip injury. However, he then had to take another month off due to a thigh problem and only played again last week in Barcelona.

In Madrid, where Nadal has triumphed five times, he will meet Alex de Minaur (AUS-10) again on Saturday.

Only recently, Novak Djokovic also spoke out about Nadal. "For the sake of tennis and especially for Roland Garros, we hope he can play there. It would be great to have another great encounter with him there," said the Serb.
