XXXLutz to move out soon
Empty furniture store may remain standing
It's high season for bargain hunters! Furniture giant XXXLutz is offering mega discounts during the clearance sale for its location in Goethestrasse in Linz. Once the retail giant has moved out in a few days, the way will be clear for the construction of the new headquarters of Raiffeisenlandesbank Oberösterreich. However, the bank is taking its time with the demolition.
A 50 percent discount on many items in stock from the home textiles department, a 70 percent discount on products from the lighting and curtain department, a 80 percent discount on all carpets in stock - under the slogan "An entire furniture store is moving", XXXLutz is currently promoting the sale at the Goethestrasse location once again.
We are relocating XXXLutz from the city to the city, which happens very rarely. We are handing over the old branch empty to Raiffeisenlandesbank, which can then realize its project.
Thomas Saliger, Sprecher der XXXLutz-Gruppe
Anyone entering the store will see areas that are already completely empty and therefore cordoned off, otherwise there is a lot of rummaging around between glasses, cookie cutters, cleaning cloths and the like - a real flea market atmosphere.
Restaurant still open at least until April 30
The furniture store and restaurant will certainly be open until the middle of next week, perhaps even a few days longer - after that, the focus will be on finalizing the new location in Hafenstraße, where the Wels furniture retail giant is moving into sales space for Mömax as well as XXXLutz. With the move directly next to the railroad bridge, the new Raiffeisenlandesbank-OÖ headquarters can also become a reality.
The pipe relocations in Goethestrasse are in the middle of construction. They are necessary for our new building. The detailed planning is still ongoing and we are on schedule.
Heinrich Schaller, Generaldirektor Raiffeisenlandesbank
When exactly will the work start here? Although the laying of cables in the area of Goethestrasse in front of Europaplatz has been in full swing for weeks, RLB-OÖ General Director Heinrich Schaller is still tight-lipped.
"Detailed planning is underway"
"We don't yet know exactly whether the demolition of the building will begin this year," he says, referring to the soon-to-be empty XXXLutz. If the excavators don't start this year, this will be the case by the beginning of 2025 at the latest. "The detailed planning is underway," says Schaller. Planned completion date for the new bank headquarters: 2028.
