Lenzing is not yet in full operation after fire

The plumes of smoke could be seen for miles around when the tower at the Lenzing AG plant caught fire last Friday. Investigators are still working on the cause of the fire. Production is also not yet running "at full capacity" and is "slightly" restricted.

They have made some progress, but have not yet reached their goal: "Arson, electrical defects or weather events can be ruled out as causes", according to Lenzing AG. As reported, a fire broke out at the plant of the internationally active fiber manufacturer a week ago, and the billows of smoke could be seen for miles around.

Since Wednesday, fire investigators have been working to find the cause of the flames, but there is no final result yet.

"Minor" restriction in production
Meanwhile, the company itself is working on "promptly rectifying the damage so that production can be resumed at full capacity". However, the disruption to production operations is only "minor", as a company spokesperson told the Krone newspaper.

The fire was brought under control by the fire department after a few hours. One person was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.
