Whistleblower mail! “Someone wants to harm us”

A circular email from a fake account, full of accusations. Plus rumors about a proposed relegation to the 2nd division. "Nothing but untruths", the club clarifies. ASV Draßburg is currently also struggling off the pitch. At least the dream of relegation is alive after a 4:2 win over Donaufeld.

If you think you've heard or seen it all in soccer, you'll be proven wrong. That's what happened at ASV Draßburg. Who had to deal with one of the most curious actions in the red and gold amateur game.

"We are shocked, surprised, but also really angry," says sporting director Peter Bauer. And the reason for the emotional rollercoaster ride is so absurd that it almost amounts to satire. "There was obviously a circular e-mail that was sent to many recipients. Including the Burgenland media," says Bauer. The "Krone" did not receive the e-mail, but was informed by the Ostliga club about the content.

"One person has apparently created a fake account. Under the synonym 'whistleblower', massive untruths were spread, all of which concern our club." Among other things, the unknown person claimed that Draßburg had not paid salaries for months and that players - even Schimandl was mentioned by name - were absent from training as a result.

We want to make it clear that these are simply lies being spread.

"Scandalous. Obviously someone wants to harm us," Bauer rumbles. Who is behind the letter remains unclear (for the time being). However, ASV will not be taking any action against it. "That makes little sense in our situation, it just costs energy." Postscript: "But we want to make it clear that these are simply lies that are being spread."
"The next nonsense"
Just like the rumor that Draßburg is said to have submitted a request to the BFV to play in the 2nd division Mitte in the event of relegation from the Ostliga. "That's another piece of nonsense and completely made up. It would also not be feasible under the association's statutes. It's not a concert of wishes." At least the dream of staying in the league is still alive. After a strong performance, they beat top team Donaufeld 4:2. "So much for the boys not wanting to or even going on strike," said Bauer - and was delighted with the three points.
