WAC captain Mario Leitgeb is hoping for a second qualifying group win before this Saturday's home game against Blau-Weiß Linz, for more composure and more flow in the game. And the 35-year-old needs to clarify his future. . .

After the narrow 2:1 triumph against whipping boy Austria Lustenau, WAC want to finally start a run in the qualifying group! This Saturday they have their first chance to do so when Blau-Weiß Linz come to the Lavanttal-Arena.

The relaxed faces in Vorarlberg showed just how important the first "three-pointer" was for the Wolfsburg team. "The tension is gone now, we're more relaxed - it's important that we go one better," emphasized coach Manfred Schmid, who will be able to rely on Altunashvili again (lymph nodes swollen only because of a wisdom tooth).

"There's something to readjust everywhere"
His captain Mario Leitgeb echoes the same sentiment. "It wasn't easy before when you don't win seven times and the performances don't match up. The win was what we needed - that should give us a boost now!"

However, the 35-year-old leading player also knows that not everything is a bed of roses - especially in terms of play. "We need to improve there. We need more ball security and more composure. We're not getting into enough combinations at the moment. There's room for improvement everywhere. But I can't blame anyone - everyone always gives their all!" emphasizes Leitgeb, whose contract expires in the summer.

Veratschnig transfer gets closer
What does the future hold for the former European Cup hero? "Nobody has spoken to me yet, I'm looking around. I've already got less hair on my head and more wrinkles on my face, but I'm fully fit and want to keep playing," says Leitgeb.

The future of Wolfsberg's hottest property should soon be clear: The summer transfer of Niki Veratschnig to Mainz is getting closer and closer. . .
