Driver drove into oncoming traffic while looking for food
Two cars collided in Söll in the Tyrolean district of Kufstein on Friday afternoon because the 85-year-old driver of a car wanted to get something to eat from the passenger seat. In doing so, she drove into the opposite lane.
The 85-year-old was driving on the B178 Loferer Straße in the municipality of Söll in the direction of St. Johann shortly after 2 pm on Friday. She later told the police that she had reached into the passenger seat to get something to eat. In doing so, the Austrian woman probably drove into the other lane, where a 65-year-old man was coming towards her in his car. There was a collision.
According to the woman, when she reached into the passenger seat to get something to eat from there, she crossed into the oncoming lane and there was a collision.
Die Polizei
The man's car spun, hit the crash barrier and a traffic marker and then came to a standstill against the direction of travel. The senior citizen's car came to a standstill in a field.
Driver taken to hospital
The 85-year-old was injured in the accident. The ambulance took her to hospital in Kufstein. The 65-year-old local man remained uninjured. However, there was considerable damage to his car and the woman's car. After the accident, the Loferer Straße was only passable on both sides for around two hours.
