"Caprese coalition"
After the election is before forming a government
Before the new mayor forges his coalition, the old municipal council has to get back to work. A reappraisal is the order of the day.
On Sunday, the decision will be made as to who will become the new mayor of Innsbruck. Whoever emerges victorious from the election, the roadmap for the formation of a government is already clear. The new mayor could convene the constituent meeting of the new municipal council as early as mid-May, provided the coalition negotiations can be concluded quickly. Which can be assumed thanks to Willi's "Caprese" plan.
The majorities in the municipal council and the city senate are fixed. The run-off election will not change this.
Bürgermeister Georg Willi
Caprese: red, green and white
Like the Italian dish, this envisages an alliance of red (tomato), green (basil) and mozzarella-white (YES list). It will be interesting to see whether the FP and Neues Innsbruck will be approved as the city councillors holding office. In the past, nothing could be done with the SPÖ and the Greens when it came to the FPÖ.
City Senate from 7 to 9 seats
The outstanding issues must be clarified by the time of the "constituent assembly". This primarily concerns the number of seats in the city senate and which party gets how many. In addition to the mayor and two deputy mayors, the city senate consists of a minimum of four and a maximum of six other members (city councillors). The deputy mayors are elected by the municipal council, the councillors are nominated by the municipal council clubs.
One more time: free play of powers
The free play of forces has one last opportunity to make a final appearance. Next Tuesday, the Innsbruck City Council will meet for its last session. This will also be an opportunity to come to terms with the past: "Period 2018 to 2024: conclusion, review and outlook" is the topic chosen by the SP for the topical hour. Immediately afterwards, Tyrol's MEP Barbara Thaler, who has been invited to speak, will also take stock.
The municipal council will then discuss topics such as the controversial e-scooter rental issue, rent relief for restaurant operators during the paving of the old town and subsidy applications (e.g. sun deck). And then, at the very end, Mayor Willi invites everyone to a final drink in the foyer of the plenary hall
