Teenager caught
Eleven-year-old beaten and threatened over two euros
The Urfahraner Jahrmarkt in Linz has always been synonymous with exuberant fun for young and old. However, there are always incidents here too: On Saturday, the day of the opening, three eleven-year-olds were threatened, beaten and chased by seven teenagers over a tiny amount of money.
Three eleven-year-olds visited the "Urfix" on Saturday and were in the process of buying a ticket for a ride when one of the children dropped a two-euro coin on the ground. They were then approached by a group of seven teenagers, one of whom grabbed the coin.
Seven of them chased the eleven-year-old
As these teenagers were noticeably taller and older, and also claimed to want to change money with them, which frightened the children, they moved away from the group of teenagers. But they followed them. Suddenly, one of them hit an eleven-year-old on the foot, causing him to fall and injure his knee.
It took adults to scare them away
The children left and continued to run away, but were caught again by the teenagers, held down, harassed and asked for money. Only adults who noticed the situation and intervened were able to scare the youths away. The police then searched the fairground and found the two main suspects, a 13-year-old Hungarian from Linz and a 14-year-old.
Second incident a little later
Also on Saturday evening, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old from Urfahr-Umgebung reported to the police station at the fairground because two other youths had stood in front of them and demanded money.
Both caught
A quick search also brought the desired success: one was caught on the Danube cycle path, the other was at the fairground. One of them, a 17-year-old Syrian from Linz, refused to make a statement. The second, a 16-year-old stateless man, stated that he had only been there. They were both charged at large.
