Parties in the jubilation trap

Even on Sunday, one day after the rather long speech by SPÖ chairman Babler in Wieselburg, the comrades were still completely beside themselves. At least publicly. In the social networks and traditional media, prominent and, above all, lesser-known functionaries and representatives of the Social Democrats outdid themselves with their expressions of jubilation for Andi from Traiskirchen.

This may seem somewhat strange to outsiders. But it is probably one of the duties of the people in the apparatuses to find the boss absolutely fabulous. All parties are the same in this respect.

The Freedom Party was once also enraptured by the blue-eyed HC.

In the ÖVP, people were completely enchanted by the youthful Sebastian until the concrete-hard collision (some still are today).

And just remember the sighs of bliss in the SPÖ when the dashing Kern arrived.

The only stupid thing for the parties is that there is also a world outside the bubble of functionaries. The scenes of self-love often don't go down so well there. Especially when the party friends have previously made life difficult for each other noisily behind the curtain or uninhibitedly on the open stage with big and small vulgarities, right through to snubbing each other in the absence of success.

A keen sense of honesty has been preserved outside of the makeshift political scene. A party's exaggerated self-enthusiasm breeds mistrust.
