There was a serious traffic accident on the Fernpass route on Sunday in which a German couple were seriously injured. A car driver swerved into the wrong lane and forced the driver of the motorcycle to take evasive action, which ended in a crash.
The 89-year-old Italian driver was driving south on the B179 at around 1.20 p.m. on Sunday. At the southern end of the tunnel in the municipality of Nassereith (Imst district), he suddenly veered into the oncoming lane for unknown reasons, causing his car to hit the tunnel wall.
It is unclear whether the car and motorcycle touched each other
At this exact moment, a 63-year-old German on his motorcycle came towards the 89-year-old. His 57-year-old wife was sitting on the pillion.
