In exactly three weeks, the U17 national team will start the European Championships in Cyprus. There was full commitment at the training course, praise came from ÖFB sports director Peter Schöttel and president Klaus Mitterdorfer.

There are exactly 21 days to go until Austria's U17 national team embarks on its European Championship finals adventure. In order to be as well prepared as possible for the tournament in Cyprus, where they will face Croatia, Wales and Denmark in the group stage, team boss Martin Scherb gathered his squad for a short training camp at the Lindabrunn Sports School.

ÖFB sports director Peter Schöttel also stopped by and congratulated them on their qualification. "The association is keeping a close eye on your performances. Your 3:1 win against Spain was a statement. You showed how to play against an opponent of this strength," applauded the 57-year-old, "it's a pleasure to watch you. You can go into the tournament with confidence."

The players were fully involved in the sessions. This was also noted with approval by the coach, who had every training session filmed with a drone in Lower Austria: "The intensity was really good. The team has great potential. The lads are full of anticipation and are totally involved. They will draw on the European Championship finals for a long time to come."

Red-White-Red don't want to think too far ahead. "Our first goal is to get off to a good start against Croatia," said captain Valentin Zabransky (Red Bull Salzburg), remaining cautious. "We want to take it step by step and continue to improve." Above all, cohesion is important: "If we are there for each other, things will also work out on the pitch."

In addition to Schöttel, the ÖFB President has also announced his attendance at the European Championships: "Games at the highest level await us. It will be a valuable experience for the players' development," says Klaus Mitterdorfer.
