Flickr and Slack founder Stewart Butterfield (51) and his ex-wife Caterina Fake (54) had to fear for their child. Mint Butterfield (16) was missing, but now the parents can breathe a sigh of relief: their child is back.

Stewart Butterfield and Caterina Fake can breathe a sigh of relief - their child has been found. As "DailyMail" reports, Mint was found in San Francisco, in the back of a van in the controversial Tenderloin neighborhood. A statement said that the child was "unharmed".

Was Mint persuaded to flee?
According to the police, the young girl with drug problems was accompanied by 26-year-old Christopher Dizefalo. Acquaintances had put investigators on the trail of the man and his white van.

In a statement, the Marin County Sheriff's Office said Mint was found unharmed and that she had stated that she had voluntarily run away from home. Her adult companion was arrested for child abduction and lodged in the Marin County Jail. He is suspected of persuading the teenager to run away.

Panicked search for billionaire's daughter
According to a Marin County Sheriff's Office report, the 16-year-old was reported missing by her mother on Thursday. Caterina Fake last saw Mint at her home in Bolinas, California, around 10 p.m. on April 21.

It was feared Mint, who describes herself as non-binary, could be in San Francisco's notorious Tenderloin neighborhood, which is considered a drug district. Officials told the San Francisco Standard that Mint had "a history of drug abuse" and was "frequently in the Tenderloin."

Together with the San Francisco Police Department, they searched for the 16-year-old for days. The authorities also published a wanted poster. However, it was not assumed that a crime had been committed, according to media reports.

Californian tech royalty
Fake and her ex-husband Stewart Butterfield co-founded Flickr in 2004 before selling it to Yahoo in 2005. After their divorce in 2008, Stewart co-founded Slack, which was acquired for 27.7 billion dollars in July 2021, according to Forbes

Although he left Slack in 2022, the business magazine estimates Stewart's personal fortune at 1.6 billion dollars.
