"Proposal too confusing"
Melanie Lynskey didn’t know she was engaged
According to Hollywood actress Melanie Lynskey ("The Last of Us"), she only found out together with her now-husband's family that he had proposed to her.
"My husband's first proposal was so confusing," said the 46-year-old New Zealander, who is married to US actor Jason Ritter (44, "Frozen II"), on Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show".
Lynskey: Proposal was "nice entertainment"
At the time, Ritter paused the TV and gave her "this weird speech", during which she wondered whether he was breaking up with her, Lynskey said. "I didn't know what was happening." He had also given her a ring, but she had not classified it as an engagement ring.
Apparently Ritter skipped the part where he asked Lynskey to marry him, because she thought his words were just a "nice conversation", as she explained.
Ritter kept proposing again and again
"And then three days later we visited his family for Christmas and he said: 'We're engaged' - I asked: 'Are we?" The actor couple, who also have a daughter together, got married in 2020.
"Since then, he's been very sweet and he's proposed to me over and over again," Lynskey reported. Most recently, her husband asked her to marry him again for her birthday.
