18-year-old sentenced
Paid the bill at a party with “20s notes”
18-year-old ordered counterfeit money online, for which the Mostviertel native was sentenced to six months' conditional imprisonment for counterfeiting and serious fraud. The sentence is final.
Was it youthful recklessness or pure calculation? In any case, it was a big mistake. "I've regretted it every day since," says the Mostviertel native remorsefully. An order on the internet brought the 18-year-old straight to the dock at St. Pölten Provincial Court. Out of curiosity, the young man allegedly bought "flowers" on the internet.
His interest was allegedly aroused by 100 fake 20 and 100 bills. The young man now had to answer for counterfeiting and aggravated fraud with a possible sentence of up to ten years - and confessed to the charges.
"Are you a passionate Monopoly player?" Mr. Rat wants to know from the first defendant. What else would the young man have needed the quantities of counterfeit euro banknotes for? Some of them were intercepted at customs on the way from Turkey, others were put into circulation by the "experimenter".
The journeyman not only "generously" distributed the counterfeit money on the street, but also exchanged it for high-proof spirits at the Halloween party of a sports club in the Mostviertel region at the end of October last year. Beforehand, however, he had scraped off the "Copy" sign on the flowers with a knife. He had given some of the bills to a friend.
The verdict is final
The 18-year-old has now received a six-month conditional prison sentence for this. "You got off lightly today," the judge told him. The sentence is final.
