Steiner: “He was glad he didn’t win”

Former Haas team boss Günther Steiner has summed up the current developments in Formula 1. He did not see Red Bull dominating in Miami. In the end, even Max Verstappen was probably happy not to have won the race, the South Tyrolean speculates. 

"I heard Max's comments, he said that his car wasn't good - and then it was still: 'You've got pole position'. So the car was pretty good after all. It was a great race and I think even Max is happy that he didn't win," says Steiner, summing up the race weekend in Miami.

I think there are a lot of teams here who would like to have these problems.

It turned out that McLaren had done a good job. In the end, the effort was rewarded, albeit with a bit of luck, with Lando Norris' victory. The 24-year-old ultimately won by 7.6 seconds ahead of Verstappen.

No dominance to be seen
Steiner emphasized to Sky: "The performance of the McLaren was very good, there was no dominance from a Red Bull to be seen. It was clearly slower. And when Lando was in front, he had a clear run, which is simply better."

Nevertheless, the South Tyrolean does not want to see a turnaround here. After all, Red Bull complained about problems and in the end had a pretty successful weekend. "You have to say that they won two qualifying sessions and the sprint, I think there are a lot of teams here who would like to have these problems," the 59-year-old concludes.
