Missing man (39) turned up two days after accident

His car was completely demolished on the A1 early on Friday morning after it had crashed into the guard rail and a concrete crash barrier. But there was no trace of the car's owner (39). The man was found two days later, but he claims to have nothing to do with the accident. 

The man from Mühlviertel, who allegedly caused an accident on the Westautobahn (A1) early on Friday morning and could not be found afterwards, turned up two days later. The man from the district of Freistadt had returned home, relatives then contacted the authorities, reported ORF Upper Austria.

The car was empty
The traffic accident occurred at the Voralpenkreuz junction in the direction of Salzburg. According to the police, he overtook a truck with his car on the right-hand side at excessive speed, hitting the crash barrier and the concrete crash wall several times and coming to a halt with severe damage. When the first patrol arrived at the scene of the accident, he was no longer there.

Search initially unsuccessful
Even a search with drones and dogs - the driver might have been injured - was unable to locate him. He has been missing ever since. During initial questioning, he denied that he had anything to do with the accident, according to the police.
