Parking to be charged around the clock from June 1

Another reason for managing the parking spaces at the trade fair is that they are in demand as long-term parking spaces for clinics and schoolchildren.

The unpopular measure mainly affects visitors to sporting and trade fair events. Violators will be fined 80 euros per day.

After a delay, Messe Oberwart will start parking space management on June 1. Around 700 parking spaces will then be managed around the clock, which has been criticized by visitors to sporting events in particular. There was talk of rip-offs, especially with regard to the prices.

Prices: From 1.50 euros per hour to 80 euros per month
1.50 is charged for every hour or part thereof, and parking only becomes cheaper after the fourth hour, as well as after 7 pm. Violations can even result in a fine of 80 euros per day. The trade fair company emphasized that it was well aware that this was an unpopular measure, but that it had to protect the parking spaces for its own customers and that the start date had been chosen so that both the soccer and basketball seasons would be over by then.

No barriers: license plates are recorded automatically
The barrier-free parking system works with modern license plate recognition technology that automatically records the parking time, explains Roland Poiger, Managing Director of Messe Oberwart. In concrete terms, this means that the license plate number is automatically recorded when entering and exiting. The parking time is also calculated without barriers or tickets. Payment is made at the end of the visit via a machine or via the "Easypark" app. Payment can be made in cash, by card or via mobile payment services.
