"Happy" with age

Klum doesn’t feel like a grandma at almost 51

Heidi Klum, who turns 51 on Saturday, is "happy" with her age.

In an interview with "Hello!" magazine, she revealed that she accepts her age with open arms and enjoys the freedom it gives her.

"I'm happy to be 50," said the mother of four, who is married to musician Tom Kaulitz. "We are lucky to be getting old. When I was younger, I thought: Fifty! That's like being a grandma! Now that I'm 50, I don't feel like a grandma anymore, although I could be very soon. Who knows?"

Klum, who has children Leni (20), Henry (18), Johan (17) and Lou (14), feels that she actually has more freedom now than she did a decade ago. She has even recently rediscovered her love of clubbing.

"Now the kids are older. The days of me going to bed at 9.30 are over. So I feel like they're all older now - maybe it's to do with my younger husband, I don't know - it's just fun. It's fun to go to a club. I enjoy music most of the time. I walk into the club and look around and think, 'Am I the oldest person here? I think I am.'" Kaulitz is 16 years younger than Klum.

"Great man"
Heidi previously described her husband as a "great man" and repeatedly rejected criticism of their age difference.

When asked why it is such a big issue for so many people, Heidi told Glamour magazine, "I think it's often just spitefulness. Maybe a lot of people also think I've been too lucky in life. I have a great job. I can travel the world. I can buy expensive things. And now I also have such a great husband."

A picture-perfect career, and yet there is something Heidi regrets after a career spanning more than 30 years. "What I always tell my children. Have more fun! I got very old very quickly, in my head. I won a competition back then and started working very quickly," she told RTL in Monaco.
