After crash: ban for Esteban Ocon in Canada?

The crash with team-mate Pierre Gasly at the Monaco Grand Prix could cost Alpine driver Esteban Ocon his start at the next race in Canada.

"Esteban's attack was completely inappropriate. That's exactly what we didn't want to see and it will have consequences. We will take a tough decision," announced team boss Bruno Famin in a fury on Sunday.

What had happened? On the first lap, Ocon made a risky overtaking maneuver and crashed into Gasly. The Frenchman was able to continue, but the race was over for his compatriot Ocon. The stewards penalized him by moving him back five places on the grid for the next race.

Although the "culprit" subsequently apologized for the "violent incident", which was "my mistake", the manoeuvre could reportedly cost him a start in Canada.

Intra-team ban?
According to Sky Sports News, the racing team is considering withdrawing Ocon from the Grand Prix in Montreal. Australian Jack Doohan could start in his place. Mick Schumacher and Formula 2 driver Victor Martins could also be considered.
