An orphaned walker was found in St. Veit on Tuesday, June 4, in the early afternoon. The owner of the walker could not be found for miles around. It was immediately feared that the person might have fallen into the Glan. A search operation was launched.

On foot, with motorboats, even fire department divers are in action: since Tuesday afternoon, they have all been searching the Glan near St. Veit for a person who may have disappeared into the water. "Fire brigades have secured the Glan bridges all the way to Klagenfurt," says a firefighter. In case the missing person was floating in the water.

On 4 June between 12.30 and 2 pm, a rollator was found by pedestrians in St. Veit near Unterbergen, about 100 meters away from the Jacques-Lemans-Arena next to the Glan bridge there. Footprints from the walker appear to lead into the Glan.

A large-scale search operation was immediately launched with the Libelle helicopter, police dog patrols, police patrols and volunteer fire departments along the Glan.

The Carinthia regional association of the Austrian Water Rescue Service was also deployed: 27 water rescuers, mainly specially trained river and whitewater rescuers, from seven bases searched for the presumed missing person together with other emergency services. The water rescuers used so-called inflatable canoes - special whitewater boats - to navigate the various sections of the river, seven of which were deployed.

As no missing persons report had been received by the evening, the police are asking the public for information as to whether the rollator can be assigned to a person or who may have left it there.

Information should be sent to the St. Veit an der Glan police on 059133/2120.

The search was called off without success.
