Austria Salzburg continues to poach from the competition

Austria Salzburg can't seem to get enough players from the competition. After two Saalfelden players with Semir Gvozdjar and Denis Kahrimanovic, the Violets have now made a move to TSV McDonald's St. Johann. Defender Christoph Gruber moves to Maxglan, Milos Savic comes from SV Kuchl.

What FC Bayern is in Germany, Austria Salzburg is slowly but surely becoming in the Regionalliga West. Not in terms of titles and successes, of course. Rather, the transfer strategy is reminiscent of that of the German record champions. Because the Violets continue to graze the internal (Salzburg) competition in the league.

After Semir Gvozdjar and Denis Kahrimanovic - both of whom come from FC Pinzgau Saalfelden - the city team announced a new arrival from Pongau on Friday.

Christoph Gruber is another defender joining Austria. "We already wanted to bring Christoph to us in the winter. He is a robust central defender with good footballing skills who fits in very well with our style of play," said a delighted coach Christian Schaider, who also presented Milos Savic from SV Kuchl shortly afterwards. The third new signing in two days. On Thursday, the club announced the signing of full-back Joseph Akpara (Wacker Burghausen). 

In the Westliga, where Salzburg have already been crowned champions, Rene Zia and Co. travel to Dornbirner SV on Saturday (14:30) for the final match of the season. FC Pinzgau Saalfelden will be looking to secure third place in the table in their clash with runners-up VfB Hohenems. SV Wals-Grünau (at Altach Juniors) and Bischofshofen Sportklub 1933 (at home against Kufstein) will play out the long-distance duel for the last ÖFB Cup ticket at 5 pm. St. Johann bid farewell to coach Ernst Lottermoser at Reichenau as he finally retires.
