Murder alert in the Tyrolean capital! On Sunday night, a local man (42) allegedly killed his mother (69) in the apartment they shared. The motive behind the bloody deed is still unclear. 

According to the police, a 42-year-old local man is suspected of killing his 69-year-old mother in the apartment they shared on Sunday night. "The crime is likely to have been preceded by an argument between the two", it said. The suspect was heavily intoxicated. He was arrested immediately.

The cause of death was found to be blunt force trauma to the skull and violence to the neck.

When questioned on Monday afternoon, the man continued to refuse to confess. He stated that he had gone to sleep and then found his mother dead. The police investigation - including the search for possible evidence - is still ongoing. The motive behind the drama is not known. An autopsy has already been carried out. "The cause of death was blunt force trauma to the skull or violence to the neck area."

No remand in custody yet
Pre-trial detention was not yet imposed on Monday. A corresponding hearing is not expected to take place until Tuesday morning at the earliest, said a spokesperson for the public prosecutor's office.

The 69-year-old had last lived in her son's apartment. She was in need of care and the 42-year-old took care of her, Rapold described the circumstances.
