Italian woman killed: had a solution already been reached?

After the gruesome crime against an Italian woman (40) living in Innsbruck became known, the Innsbruck Higher Regional Court (OLG) has now spoken out. The dispute with her ex-partner over custody of their children is said to have been resolved on Monday. 

The woman of Russian origin from Italy, who lived in Innsbruck, was allegedly killed by her ex-partner in the northern Italian city of Modena. The background is said to have been a dispute over custody of the ex-couple's children. This was the result of an investigation. The victim had initiated proceedings in court in Innsbruck.

On June 10, 2024, the parents, both represented by lawyers, reached an amicable settlement in court regarding custody of their two children. This meant that a court decision was no longer necessary.

As the Higher Regional Court announced in a press release, an amicable custody arrangement had already been reached on Monday. Here is the exact wording: "On June 10, 2024, the parents, both represented by lawyers, reached an amicable custody arrangement for their two children in court. A court decision was therefore no longer necessary. According to the agreement reached by the parents, both were entitled to custody."

On May 17, 2023, the court decided that the children should live with the mother. The father was granted visiting rights.

The body of the 40-year-old was now found in the trunk of her ex-partner's van. He confessed to the crime and was arrested after calling the police himself. According to Italian media reports, the woman had been strangled to death.
