First cockpit gone! Alpine extends with driver

Alpine continues to rely on the services of Pierre Gasly. The 28-year-old has signed a long-term contract with the French outfit, as the Formula 1 racing team announced on Thursday.

"Full throttle into the future! We are delighted to announce that Pierre is staying with us and signing a new multi-year contract," Alpine announced on its social media channels. The Frenchman joined the racing team in 2023 and finished on the podium once in his first season with the team.

Gasly's contract extension, on the other hand, reduces Mick Schumacher's chances of a regular driver cockpit in 2025. The 25-year-old German is currently competing in Alpine's endurance program, but makes no secret of wanting to return to the premier class of motorsport.

However, Schumacher should not write off his hopes completely. Following differences within the team, Gasly's compatriot and team-mate Esteban Ocon is said to be in the hot seat.
