Two people were injured in a collision on the A2 in Carinthia in the direction of Vienna on Saturday. Only the fire department was able to free a 25-year-old from the wreck.

At around 1 p.m., a 55-year-old man from the Wolfsberg district was driving his car on the A2 in the direction of Vienna when a 25-year-old Hungarian citizen hit the guard rail with his car. "The reason for this is still unknown," said the police.

In any case, the 25-year-old crashed into the 55-year-old's car, trapping the young man between the concrete crash barrier and the car: "The man could only be rescued from the vehicle with the help of a rescue spreader!"

Injured to an undetermined degree
Both parties involved in the accident were injured to an unspecified degree and taken to Klagenfurt Hospital by the ambulance service. In addition to the police and ambulance services, the Völkermarkt and Griffen fire brigades were also deployed with a total of 30 firefighters. Due to the accident, the A2 towards Vienna was closed from Völkermarkt West.
