Police officer suspended from duty after theft

A uniformed thief is currently causing a lot of trouble within the police force! The Carinthian officer is said to have stolen 1,500 euros from the police cash box.

As has only now become known, officers at a police station in Lower Carinthia had noticed that cash had repeatedly disappeared from the communal cash box over a period of 14 days - causing a lot of trouble and arguments among colleagues. A total of 1500 euros is said to be involved.

A young colleague quickly came under suspicion: "When confronted with the facts, he admitted to the theft," a police officer told the "Krone". Although the accused then returned 1,350 euros, the officer was temporarily suspended from duty and also charged under criminal law. This means that the police officer is not only facing criminal proceedings, but also a disciplinary penalty, which could lead to dismissal from the police force in the event of a conviction.

Until then, the young man from Lower Carinthia is presumed innocent. The investigation is being conducted by the State Office of Criminal Investigation.
