Hopefully, you’re already well-practiced at towel-throwing? Because the season of the sun lounger warriors has arrived once again: early in the morning at hotel pools in vacation destinations, they’re back in the starting blocks. “Typically German”? Not at all: rather, this is where the (terry cloth) beast in all of us awakens. Why are we actually like this?

What’s the most useful thing to have with you when traveling across the universe? That’s right, a towel. We’ve known that ever since Douglas Adams’ novel “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” (1979). But the towel is also very popular with earthly vacationers.
