Leipzig is filling up! ÖFB fans ready for EM match

The Austrians are here! The European Championship round of 16 match against Turkey kicks off today in Leipzig(9pm in the sportkrone.at ticker). Thousands of red-white-red fans are already on site, enjoying themselves in the city center and getting in the mood for the evening. "Schnitzel is better than kebab" was written on a piece of paper. 

In the afternoon, the first ÖFB fans gathered at Richard-Wagner-Platz, where the red-white-red fan march started at 5 pm.

By now, the market square is packed with thousands of fans. "Austria again and again," can be heard echoing through the city center.

The first songs were also sung on the plane to Leipzig. The EURO hit par excellence from an Austrian perspective: "I Am From Austria" by Rainhard Fendrich.

Whether Düsseldorf, Berlin or Leipzig. The Austrian fans are celebrating a euphoric soccer festival at the EURO. Our national team could already count on the full support of the famous 12th man in the group stage matches.

Aiming for first victory in 70 years
And today will be all the more important: Austria has not won a knockout match at a major soccer event for 70 (!) years, the last time this happened was at the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland - 3:1 in the match for third place against Uruguay.

One thing is certain: with thousands of fans behind them, Austria can achieve great things!
