Brotherly dispute in Italy: 65-year-old beheaded

According to Italian media reports, there had been several arguments between the brothers in the past.

A dispute between two brothers in the hinterland of the southern Italian city of Naples resulted in a brutal crime on Wednesday evening: In the municipality of Pannarano, a 59-year-old man stabbed his 65-year-old brother to death and then beheaded him, according to police reports. 

The man is said to have then thrown the severed head from the balcony onto the street. Several neighbors witnessed the scene and alerted the police.

The alleged perpetrator was arrested shortly afterwards and questioned. It is unclear why the fight broke out. According to initial information from the investigators, the two brothers had been living together again under one roof in the family home for some time. The argument had broken out there on Wednesday evening at around 10 pm.

Mutilated body
After the crime, the younger brother called the police on his own initiative. He then barricaded himself in the house, but then voluntarily opened the door to the officers. The police were presented with a gruesome scene: the 65-year-old's body was mutilated by numerous stab wounds and his head was missing. The alleged perpetrator is now in custody.

According to Italian media reports, there had been several arguments between the brothers in the past. The 65-year-old, a widower, had returned to his home country some time ago after starting his retirement from the capital Rome.
