Clan terror is raging in Vienna after an attack on a Chechen. Those familiar with the scene warn of a further escalation.

After three nights of violence in a row, the mood in Vienna is still one of alarm. The police are roaming the metropolis with a large contingent and want to restore peace and order. In a concerted action on Wednesday evening, the area near subway line 6 was targeted in particular.

Arrest in Floridsdorf
Among other things, an arrest was made in Floridsdorf. Chief investigator Colonel Dietmar Berger explains: "Numerous operations have been underway since Tuesday, which are intended to have a preventive and acute effect. Cobra and WEGA task forces are reinforcing the units." After wild shootings in Brigittenau, the police are prepared for all eventualities. So far, however, the investigations are proving difficult. Suspects and victims of the gang terror are remaining silent.

That was the trigger for the riots
Incidentally, the riots were triggered by an attack on a 30-year-old man in Favoriten. The Austrian with Chechen roots was stabbed during a "peace talk" in June - he suffered serious injuries to his neck, upper body and genital area. "They were Syrians - and in retaliation, Chechens are now stabbing all Arabs," says one insider icily.

Despite everything, "peace negotiations" between the gangs are now underway again. The police can only be happy about that.
