A police operation took place in an apartment in Vienna-Liesing at around 7.45 pm on Wednesday: A 62-year-old mother was threatened with a knife by her son (43). He is also said to have threatened to kill her. The woman alerted the police. 

With the support of WEGA, the emergency services arrived at the scene in Liesing on Wednesday. The 43-year-old was suspected of having threatened his mother, who managed to escape from the apartment they shared. 

Knife turned on himself
"The "Taser" electric pulse weapon was used during the arrest, as the 43-year-old was behaving aggressively and was holding a knife in his hands, which he was pointing at himself," police spokesman Markus Dittrich said on Thursday.
