"He failed and he admits it himself." Harsh criticism of Kylian Mbappe from Christophe Dugarry after the star player failed to be crowned European champion with France. 

According to the 1998 world champion, Mbappe is the only one responsible for France's elimination from the European Championship. The Equipe Tricolore were beaten 2-1 by Spain in the semi-final on Tuesday and were thus eliminated from the tournament.

The expected top performances from the 25-year-old failed to materialize for large parts of the European Championships, and apart from a penalty against Poland, the Real professional failed to score. "You were zero", Dugarry now scoffed on French private TV channel M6. 

"No excuses"
The fact that Mbappe had hardly any preparation time due to his departure from Paris Saint-Germain does not count as an excuse, says the 52-year-old. "When you're the leader, there are no excuses. Zinedine Zidane took his responsibility back then, he didn't hide." Unlike Mbappe ... "He has undoubtedly damaged his image. And his effectiveness and his talent. Many people were disappointed by his performances and his behavior as captain," says Dugarry, not mincing his words.

Spain will face the Three Lions from England in the final on Sunday evening. Mbappe and Co. will have to watch the final from the television.
