Rod Stewart plans gigantic birthday party

If only, then only: Rod Stewart wants to celebrate his 80th birthday for "several weeks".

The hitmaker will reach the milestone in January next year. His wife Penny Lancaster reveals that the couple have already started planning a huge party.

"The celebrations will go on for several weeks," she revealed to the British "Hello" magazine. "We're going to spend Christmas in Florida and then go to the Caribbean together on a big ship. It's going to be a wonderful trip."

The singer was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2000 and prostate cancer in 2016. "I regularly undergo the latest medical tests, scans and CT scans. I consider myself lucky, my medical results are first class," he explains.

The singer wanted to be open with his fans as he underwent cancer treatment. "I went on stage during my cancer treatment and King Charles is also going about his duties again," he says of the British monarch.

"He loves what he does and that gives him strength. He's a great man who has done so much good for the royal family. I love him. The most important thing is to go to the inquests. You shouldn't hide when you're in the public eye like him - and like me too. The message he sends is so important: life can go on, even with cancer."
