Several victims every year
When wasp stings become a deadly danger
Up to four percent of Austrians are allergic to bees and wasps. Even the first sting can be so sensitive that the next one can trigger the dreaded "allergic circulatory shock", which in the worst case can be fatal - as in the case of a construction worker in Styria who was found lifeless after being stung by an insect.
Wasps and bees are buzzing again in midsummer! Some people have already noticed this painfully through unpleasant "encounters". Dramatic scenes must have taken place on the private building site when the Burgenland man was found dead by the owner of the house. He probably died as a result of an insect bite. This is reminiscent of the death of Jochen Goetz (52), CFO of the Daimler Truck Group, last year. Allergy sufferers are now on red alert, but even if you have not yet had an allergic reaction to an insect bite, you should be aware of the following.
