Following the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, there is now a new "fashion trend" among Republicans. Numerous party supporters are now covering their ears - to express their solidarity with the 78-year-old. 

He wanted to pay tribute to Trump and was thinking about the best way to do this, said Joe Neglia, a member of parliament from the US state of Arizona, on the fringes of the Republican party conference in Milwaukee (state of Wisconsin). He asked himself "what can I do to show my support, solidarity, sympathy and gratitude to the man who almost gave his life for our country".

It is "the least I can do for President Trump!", explained delegate Stacey Goodman, also with a paper patch on her right ear.

Trump wants to take a softer tone in his speech
Trump will officially accept his nomination as presidential candidate on Thursday and deliver a much-anticipated speech. He had originally prepared "an extremely tough speech" about President Biden's "terrible administration". However, he had thrown this text away and now wanted to give a speech "that unites our country", the 78-year-old said after the assassination attempt on him.
