IT breakdown: No outages at Graz Airport yet

In Graz, it is primarily Eurowings flights that are affected by the IT glitch.

The effects of the worldwide IT breakdown have now also reached Graz Airport. Two arrivals and one departure had to be canceled and there are also delays. The Graz team's improvisational skills can cushion the blow.

Chaotic scenes are reported by airports worldwide, some airlines have even suspended flight operations: The IT glitch, triggered by an update from the cybersecurity company Crowdstrike, has had a huge global impact. Vienna Airport is also severely affected.

Graz got off relatively lightly for a long time. In general, the airline Eurowings is particularly affected here, airlines such as AUA, Lufthansa or Air Dolomiti use a different system, according to airport managing director Wolfgang Grimus to the "Krone".

For example, the Eurowings aircraft arriving from Corfu in the morning was delayed in taking off for Berlin. "Our team found a solution and processed the passengers manually - on a different system that we normally use for charter flights," explained Grimus.

First cancellations
However, the return flight from Berlin to Graz was delayed for a long time and was eventually canceled. According to the airport website, a flight from Frankfurt that was due to land at 6 p.m. was also canceled - as was the flight from Graz to Frankfurt scheduled for 6.40 p.m.

The Eurowings flight to Kos has been delayed, and the same can be expected for the evening flights to and from Düsseldorf and Hamburg. Grimus advises all passengers to check with the respective airline.

Otherwise, Styria got off lightly. Neither Energie Steiermark nor the hospital company Kages have reported any problems.
